We’ll be straight with you: AI is part of how these plugins get built. It’s our assistant and our heavy lifter — wiring up modules, handling boilerplate, collapsing grunt-work that used to eat weeks. And we’d bet every plugin company you already own something from is doing the same by now, whether they say so or not. We’d just rather tell you.
Used well, AI is one of the best things to happen to independent development in years — but it’s not a shortcut. Getting something genuinely right, stable and musical under real audio, is a mountain of work no model does for you. And we’re not here to clone hardware: a few of these tools are inspired by gear we love, but none are just a copy that sounds “a little bit better.” They’re their own designs.
Behind every plugin is twenty years in real studios and DSP knowledge that took just as long to earn. The signal paths are ours — researched, then tested against real audio, by ear and by instrument, until they hold up. Nothing ships because it compiled; it ships because we sat with it, broke it, and fixed it, right down to how the UI feels under your hands. AI is the hammer — it doesn’t decide what to build or what “good” sounds like. That’s still a human with two decades of ears.
