One app for every capture our plugins need. Record a riser, a drum hit, a texture, or a room on your phone, trim it right there, and it syncs straight to the desktop plugin that plays it. Four capture modes, one library, and it stays free, it exists to feed the plugins, not to be another thing to buy.
Each mode tunes the recorder for the material and files the result in its own folder, so the desktop plugin that wants it just finds it. No exporting, no hunting through a Downloads folder.
Source material for Updraft's generative risers, any sustained sound its engine can sweep, filter, and pitch into a build-up.
Drum and percussion one-shots for the DirtyHit trigger plugin. Hit a snare, a road case, a filing cabinet, whatever's in the room.
Field textures for the Silt granular synth, the long, evolving, uneventful sounds that turn into something else entirely once they're grains.
Room, plate, and space impulse responses for Foundwaves, pop, sweep, or contact-plate capture, depending on what you're standing in front of.
Every take lands on a review screen with trim handles and a clipping warning, so a bad one gets thrown away on the spot instead of back at the studio.
All four modes write into a single Capture folder in iCloud Drive, sub-foldered per plugin, one place to browse everything you've ever recorded.
Foundwaves Capture, DirtyHit, and a granular capture app all started as separate downloads that happened to share most of their code. Every fix had to be made three times, and you'd have needed three apps on your phone to use three of our plugins. Smash Capture is those apps rebuilt as one, with a mode picker on the front, and room for whatever we build next.
All four capture modes are built and working, but Smash Capture hasn't been through real-world use yet and isn't on the App Store. It'll be free when it lands. Want to know when? Send us a note and we'll email you, no list, no marketing, just the one message.
